Originally from Hawai'i, I moved to the Northwest to study music. I studied for some time at Cornish College of the Arts majoring in classical and jazz saxophone. While there I met many artists and musicians, all learning to collaborate in one way or another. I realized how art school didn't really prepare one for a career so out of frustration I packed up my saxophone, pulled-out my trusty video camera and with a curiosity for what makes an artist do what they do, I proceeded to document.
I wanted to be part of that process that helped artists be able to make a living at doing what they do best.
I was soon involved with a local Seattle avant-theater-orchestra group called The Young Composers Collective where I attended rehearsals, followed them on tours and even performed on saxophone in a few shows. I learned about the grant writing process and how important documentation was to the artist.
I attended the Art Institute of Seattle and studied multi-media with a focus on video and the web. I took these skills to further help artists organize and put together web portfolios, to document and present theater to new audiences, and create packaging and promotional materials for shows.
